On Wednesday afternoon, The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat got major success with arrest of Abid Patel, brother of Javed Dawood Shaikh alias Chikna an accused in the Mumbai serial blasts, along with an accomplice Salim Ganchi, from the Indo-Nepal border. Abid is wanted in the double murder case of Bharuch in which BJP leaders Sirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry were shot dead on November 2. Salim of Mumbai, had supplied arms for the murder. ATS sources said the two accused from Chhota Shakeel group who work for the Dawood Ibrahim gang. “The suspects are also being interrogated by officers of central intelligence agencies to know if they had any big ger plans,” as per ATS official. Chota Shakeel with the help of Javed Chikna, supposedly based in South Africa, worked out a plot to eliminate leaders associated with saffron organisations in Bharuch. Gujarat Police had intimated the CBI for red corner notice against Abid Patel after he was named as one of the accused in the Bharuch double murder case.
