Gujarat Assembly elections before December 18
Today Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti of Election Commission of India made important announcement about Assembly polls in 2 states of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat,
Polling in Gujarat will take place before December 18 so that in no way the result of Himachal can affect the voting in Gujarat,” the Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti said. “We will, in a few days, formally announce the dates for Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, but I can say for sure that voting in Gujarat will happen before December 18.
Election Commission says ready to hold Gujarat Assembly Elections
Today in Ahmedabad, Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti held a press conference. EC has shown readiness to hold Assembly elections in the state.
CEC Jyoti said that Gujarat Assembly Elections 2917 will be held through 50,128 polling booths. Regulation on expenditure by political party will be observed in polls. Para military and police forces will be deployed at polling booths. Help of IT agencies will be taken. More voting will be encouraged. Election will ne held in peaceful and amicable manner.
VVPAT machines will be used during Assembly elections . Special arrangements for disabled voters.
IT officers will be used during elections. Till 25th September voter lists were finalized.
Goa elections were the first to be done using VVPAT machines; anyone needing VVPAT receipt will be able to get. Any one needing receipt of VVPAT after casting vote will able to get it.
Election Commission officials to visit Gujarat to check on readiness for Assembly elections
Today a team of senior Election Commission officials, led by Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti, would begin their two-day visit to Gujarat The delegation comprises Election Commissioners OP Rawat and Sunil Arora along with around 12 other senior officials of the election panel, the state government said in an official release.
As per information, During the Gujarat visit, they will review the readiness of state administration to undergo assembly polls.
State Assembly elections are due within the next two months.
Achal Kumar Jyoti assumes charge as the 21st Chief Election Commissioner of India
Today Achal Kumar Jyoti assumes charge as the 21st Chief Election Commissioner of India. He was appointed as the CEC.
A K Jyoti was the Election Commissioner of India along with O P Rawat. Jyoti born on 23 January 1953 is an IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre. The 64 year old Jyoti has also served as the Chief Secretary of Gujarat. He has also served as the Chairman of the Kandla Port Trust between 1999 and 2004 and Managing Director of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL). After retiring as the chief secretary in January 2013, he was appointed as the State Vigilance Commissioner of Gujarat.
