Gross negligence of Gandhinagar Civil doctor in vaccine over doze to small girl

Case of gross negligence of doctor of Gandhinagar Civil Hospital has come to light today in giving vaccination to two months old girl. As a side effect of heavy doze of vaccine and multiple vaccines given at a time resulted in a pus in small girl.

Prachi Gajjar daughter of Samir Gajjar was born 2 months back in Randheja Urban Health Centre. Due to 2 months lockdown, no vaccination was given to her. On 22nd May Shailesh Gajjar grandfather of Prachi took her to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for getting her vaccine.

Doctor at Gandhinagar Civil gave her 6 types of vaccine including BCG, Polio-1,Polio-2,Penta-1,Rota-1 and fIPV-1 were given in a single day which could have given over a span of 10 weeks. Shaileshbhai requested doctor to give all vaccines gradually but in reply doctor said all vaccines should be given by now.

After getting 6 Vaccines to Prachi in a single day, she had a swelling on her leg. Gajjar family applied ice cubes on thinking it as a normal swelling. However whn contact Gandhinagar Civil Hospital told them to take Prachi to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital or else it would be family’s responsibility if something goes wrong and raisd their hands. Amid Covid-19 outbreak Gajjar family avoided to go to Civil Hospital. Estimate for the treatment by Civil Hospital was given Rs 3 to 4 lakhs.

Due to financial crunch victim family admitted Prachi to private hospital in Kudasan. Due to gross negligence of doctor of Gandhinagar Civil Hospital small girl has to face pain, trouble and hardship happened to family. In last 10 days, family incurred Rs 60,000 to 70,000 expense towards reports and medicine for small innocent victim Prachi. She was operated on swollen leg to remove pus from her leg.
