In Ahmedabad on 14th November , to mark the 147th Birth Anniversary of Shri Mahatma Gandhi, Veechar trust today organized the 5th Edition of it’s Successful Gandhi Mitra Awards – “GANDHI MITRA AWARDS – 2016 “ award programs under the guidance of it’s visionary managing trustee – Shri Surendrabhai Patel and in the auspicious presence of His Excellency, Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat State – Shri O.P.Kohliji.
The Program witnessed the Inauguration of a Painting Exhibition based on Gandhji by distinguished guests like Hon’ble Governor His Excellency Shri Om Prakash Kohli, Hon’ble Mayor – Shri Gautambhai Shah and Shri Yogeshbhai Gadhvi. It was followed by Dance Performances by Mr. Bharat Baria, Mr. Akshay Patel and troupe on some famous bhajans of Gandhiji.
The award ceremony had dignitaries like Hon’ble Governor His Excellency Shri Om Prakash Kohli, Hon’ble Mayor – Shri Gautambhai Shah, Chief Guest of Function – Dr. Shri Arunbhai Dave , Shri Yogesh Gadhvi on the dias alongwith the distinguished Jury members of Gandhi Mitra awards committee Shri Anamikbhai Shah (Chancellor, Gujarat Vidyapeeth) , Dr. Shri Rajendrabhai Khimani (Gujarat Vidyapeeth) and Shri Hasmukhbhai Patel (Karmasheel). Mr. Ramesh Tanna, another distinguished Jury member, conducted the awards function event.
Shri Surendrabhai Patel, Managing trustee of Veechar Trust shared, “Every year we organize Gandhi Mitra Awards to search for and to give recognition to at least 3 such individuals or a team of Social activists who have dedicated their lives towards following the Gandhian Philosophy and helping the society in a Philanthropic manner. These are those set of unsung heroes who work for the society in smallest of district areas with very less resources or infrastructural support but they have dedicated their lives to the cause of humanity. With the support of a very renowned committee comprising of Gandhian Philosophers like Dr. Anamik Shah (Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidhyapith), Dr. Rajendra Khimani (Registrar of Gujarat Vidhyapith), Shri Ramesh Tanna, Shri Hasmukh Patel, we have shortlisted this year’s worthy candidates from over 50 nominations and applications and we are happy that like every year His Excellency , our respected Governor Sir, Shri O.P.Kohli ji is with us again to bless and motivate these social activities in their journey ahead.”
“GANDHI MITRA Awards – 2016 is being conferred to Mrs. Muktaben and Mr. Nakulbhai Bhavsar (Village – Swaraj Sangh, Nilpar, Taluka – Rapar, District – Kutch), Mr. Neelam Patel (Village – Khoba, Taluka – Dharampur, District – Valsad) and Mrs. Tula and Mr. Sanjay (Village – Vishwagram, P/o Basna, Taluka – Visnagar, District –Mehsana) and they would receive their felicitations from Hon’ble O.P.Kohli ji himself. It is heartening so see that even in this modern times, there are such social activists who follow the philosophies of Shri Mahatma Gandhiji and who have dedicated their lives for the betterment and upliftment of the society. The Award function also witnessed the Unveiling of India’s first book of Utensils titled “UTENSILS” written by Dr. Jyotindra jain by Hon’ble Governor His excellency Shri O.P. Kohli. The entire program was convened by Shri Ramesh Tanna – a renowned member of Media Circles.
