Somnath Temple has been awarded the Eat Right Place of Worship Certificate. total of 47 temples in Gujarat have been certified as Eat Right Places of Worship. Dr. H. G. Koshiya, Commissioner, Food & Drugs Control Administration, stated that the state government remains committed to ensuring that citizens receive pure, safe, and high-quality food. Eat Right Places of Worship (PoW) is an initiative by FSSAI to encourage places of worship to adopt and maintain food safety and hygiene standards. Its objective is to create awareness and prevent irregularities in food served as Prasad/Langar at places of worship while ensuring compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its associated rules and regulations. For temples, registration and pre-audits are conducted by a third-party audit agency empaneled by FSSAI. Later, individuals involved in making Prasad obtain FoSTAC training, followed by a re-audit. Once food quality standards are met, the temple is awarded the certification.
