Benchmark equity indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, continued its losing streak and ended lower by over 1 per cent each on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex closed at 77,690.95, down 984.23 points or 1.25 percent from its previous close, trading within a range of 78,690.02-77,533.30.
Biggest Nifty lowers included Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco, Tata Steel, M&M, Eicher Motors, while gainers were NTPC, Britannia Industries, HUL, Tata Motors. All the sectoral indices ended in the red with auto, capital goods, metal, realty, PSU Bank, power, media drop 2-3 percent. The BSE Midcap index fell 2.5 percent and the Smallcap index shed 3 percent.
