Elavenil Valarivan returns to Ahmedabad with gold medal at ISSF Junior World Cup in Australia

Today Elavenil Valarivan returned to Ahmedabad after winning gold medal at International Shooting Sport Federation ( ISSF Junior World Cup) Junior World Cup in Sydney Australia. ISSF event was held during March 19 to 25 in Sydney.

Elavenil won Gold in 10 meters women’s air rifles junior event junior world cup and made India proud with her achievement. She set a new record with 631.4 qualification score.

18-year-old Elavenil, competing in her second World Cup and first final, shot 249.8 in the women’s final to claim the top individual honours. After a 9.6, she sealed the win with a high 10.7 in the crucial 24th shot, getting the better of Chinese Taipei’s Lin Ying-Shin.

She also won a bronze medal at the FISU World Shooting Sport Championship during March 14 to 18 in Malaysia.

She will be declared as a Indian nominee of 2020 and 2024 Olympics.

Elavenil will be granted need based loan of Rs 25 lakhs as per Shaktidutt scheme.

Gujarat government identified her talent and highlighted her at international level. She has been granted Rs 1.5 lakhs of initial need based loan till now.

State government provides training at DLSS District Level Sports Sankul. She was trained at Sanskar Dham. She is getting training from International shooter Gagan Narang’s Gun For Glory Training camp.
