Ahmedabad, Doctors Call Nationwide 12-Hour Strike Against NMC New Medical Bill.
IMA Indian Medical Association gave a call for strike.
One day token strike by doctors was announced to protest against NMC.
In Gujarat, doctors of Surat and Rajkot also joined the strike. 1,600 Rajkot doctors joined the strike against NMC.
Private doctors will be on strike from 6 am to 6 pm, as a mark of support.
However, treatment to patients admitted in hospital and awaiting emergency treatment will continue.
Gujarat Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel said that doctors are protesting against some new provisions in NMC, their suggestions will be noted and conveyed by state government to central government. Decision in favour of doctors, patients and hospital would be taken said Patel.
Talks with IMA representatives were also held. Change in NMC were proposed by central government.
