In India and worldover Diwali a global and very big festival celebrated with big festivity by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs and some Buddhists to mark different historical events, stories but they all symbolise the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, hope over despair.
This Diwali marks Vikram Samvat Gujarati year of 2073. Shaka samvat and Vikram samvat are based on lunar months and solar years.
As a celebration sweets are prepared and exchange among friends and family. They send and exchange Diwali greetings.
Fire crackers are bursted on the evening of Dhanteras, Diwali and New Year morning. Lamps are lighted in the evening during Diwali days.
Books of Accounts are closed. All financial transactions are settled with making payments.
On Diwali and New Year, People visit temple and worship Goddess Laxmiji and pray for prosperity of all. Prayers, puja and aarti is done at home with family. They turnout in new dress. Decorative Torans are tied in the entrance of house welcoming health, wealth and prosperity.
Make Rangoli with a caption of Welcome. People visit friends and family, seek blessings of elderly people. They also receive Diwali gifts from elders. Sweets and Farsan dishes are offered when they visit each other. People socialize during Diwali. Schools, Colleges, offices and shops remains closed on Diwali.
