Today Deesa court of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat acquitted 61 accused in 2 cases of 2002 riots in Thara town of the district after Godhara episode. As per Thara police the first case no CR 23/2002 of rioting and arson in the local market had 32 accused and in the second case no CR 42/2002 related to damaging of the cabin of a shop.The complainant Md. Khan Makrani, a resident of Sipaiwas, in the first case of February 28, 2002 had made an FIR under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 323,337, 435, 436 of the IPC and section 135 of the BP act while sections 143, 427, 435, 436 of the IPC were invoked against the accused in the second case lodged by Shamsher Khan Makrani.
