Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghvi on instruction of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to take very quick and effective action against such nefarious elements to bring complete control on heinous crimes like rape and murder of girl children in Gujarat. In such cases, strict orders have been given to Gujarat Police to take firm action. Not only this, in such serious and sensitive cases, instructions have been given to carry out a thorough investigation, collect all relevant scientific and circumstantial evidence and carry out an investigation to punish culprits with death penalty.
On 12th June 2022, a culprit raped and killed an innocent 8-years-old girl of Kodinar taluka in Gir Somnath district. He has been sentenced to death. Through such strict action, state government has sent a clear message of warning to such criminals. Based on gravity of incident of rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kodinar taluka of Gir Somnath district, Minister of State for Home Affairs, under guidance of state CM, formed a SIT Special Investigation Team consisting of senior police officers. SIT collected all the circumstantial evidence with the help of FSL and completed the investigation within 25 days and filed charge sheet against culprit. He has been sentenced to death penalty. Not only that, Convict has been ordered to pay 17 lakhs compensation to victim girl’s family.
