5 March 2025 Ahmedabad: In 2008 Serial Blast Case Now, Daily Hearing will be held in Gujarat High Court at Ahmedabad. Day-to-day hearing in High Court on confirmation of death sentence (gallows) to 38 convicts will be held from today. HC will confirm death penalty of 38 convicts in the case.
Court says Blasting is an act of terrorism. During the hearing, no one except Public Prosecutor and Defending Lawyer will be allowed to be in the Court. High Court will hear seven half pages long documents in the Serial Blast Case.
The hearing was concluded in September 2021. On 8 February 2022 the verdict was delivered pronouncing 28 accused acquitted due to lack of acceptable evidence while 49 as convicted. The sentences were provided on 18 February 2022, including 38 death sentences and 11 life imprisonments. In January 2024 High Court issued a directive to the Sabarmati central jail officials to convey one of the 38 convicts in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts case to engage a lawyer in the confirmation of the death sentence hearing. The Court added that if the convict isn’t able to engage a lawyer.
