On Monday, opposition Congress staged a silent protest by wearing black strips on their mouths in Gujarat assembly against the police complaint registered against 19 of their MLAs of Congress in the case of vandalism last week.
Right from the start of the question hour to the time when two bills were passed, Congress members did not utter a single word even when it was their turn to speak. After the break, senior Congress MLA Shaktisinh Gohil raised the point of order against the police case. He alleged that on March 26 newly appointed deputy speaker Atmaram Parmar had used non-parliamentarily terms against the Congress MLAs and ordered sergeants to use brute force against them.
Speaker Ganpat Vasava, while giving his ruling on the point of order, said: “Any kind of protest in the assembly is not permitted. The point of order is also not maintainable as it was against the ruling of the speaker.”
