Protest against yesterday’s suspension of 25 Congress MPs from Lok Sabha by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had a serious impact.
Today in Ahmedabad, at Rupali circle, Gujarat Congress leaders including Ahmedabad city President Chetan Raval, Municipal councilor Badruddin Shaikh , other workers and NSUI youth staged protest by displaying placards and shouting slogans against BJP government and against Black Day in Parliament. Effigy of PM Modi was burnt in Ahmedabad by Congress leaders. Program of road blocking was also done by Congress leaders. There was a tense situation between Police and Congress leaders. Police arrested 50 Congress leaders.
Today in Karnataka even, Congress leaders and cadres staged a demonstration at Tipu Sultan Gardens near the office of Deputy Commissioner here condemning the suspension of its 25 MPs for 5 sessions from the Lok Sabha by the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Around 200 activists assembled at the Gardens at about 11 a.m. and staged protest raising slogans against the BJP government “for its dictatorial approach”. They alleged that the BJP was misusing its majority in the Lok Sabha to suppress dissent.
“It is nothing but murder of democracy. It is a black day in the history of Indian democracy. Congress leaders said that their party would continue to fight for safeguarding the democratic ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
The activists latter burnt an effigy of Narendra Modi on the main road in front of DC office.
