The session will commence on April 8 with an extended Congress Working Committee meeting, followed by the AICC Delegates’ meeting on April 9.
Congress on Sunday (February 23) announced that it will hold its AICC session in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on April 8 and 9 to deliberate on the challenges posed by the BJP’s anti-people policies, its alleged attack on the Constitution and charting the party’s future road map.In this session 3000 delegates will take part across India.
In a statement, Congress GS, in-charge organisation, KC Venugopal, said the upcoming session will serve not only as a platform for crucial deliberations but also as a reaffirmation of the Congress party’s collective resolve to address the issues of the common people and present a strong alternative vision for the nation.
“This significant gathering will bring together AICC delegates from across the nation to deliberate on the challenges posed by the anti-people policies and the relentless attack on the Constitution and its values by the BJP, while charting the party’s future course of action,” Venugopal said.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will chair both the meetings, which will be attended by Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, all chief ministers of the Congress-ruled states, national office bearers, senior party leaders, and other AICC delegates, Venugopal added.

In Gujarat GPCC President Shaktisinh Gohil held a press conference addressing and briefing media on the AICC session to be held in April 8 and 9. Two historic Congress sessions have been held in Gujarat before, in which 51st session was held in 1938 at Haripura, Bardoli under supervision of then State President Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in which Subhash Chandra Bose was elected as National President. In the Haripura session, the concept of Planning Commission was presented by Subhash Chandra Bose. It was implemented by the first Prime Minister Shri Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. In the Haripura session, seven paintings were presented by famous painter Nandlal Bose, whose works of paintings have been presented at the new National Office of the Congress Party in Delhi, Indira Bhavan. The 66th Congress session of Congress Party in Gujarat in 1961 was held at Bhavnagar under the chairmanship of Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy. Top Congress leaders including Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru attended Bhavnagar session. In the Congress session held in Bhavnagar in 1961, the then Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, YB Chavan, Giani Zail Singh, Shravan Singh and other prominent leaders of the country attended it.
