CID enquiry ordered in fire at groundnut godown in Rajkot
Today in Rajkot, in Shapar Veraval fire was reported at National Cotton Industries and a loss of Rs 3 crores was estimated. Groundnut stock for last 3 months was stored in the godown. Fire fighters from Rajkot, Jetpur and Gondal were rushed to the site immediately.
This is the third incident of fire in last 6 months.
Ex BJP Gujarat President RC Faldu said that 15,000 bags of groundnut were stored in another warehouse, so they could be saved however there was a loss of Rs 3 crores. He added that certain elements are there with wasted interest behind. Gujarat Chief Minister will be requested to hold high level inquiry into fire at groundnut godown. Culprits will not be spared added Faldu. When government is purchasing groundnut from open market to give better MSP to farmer, such repeated incidents create doubt.
Out of 6 godown, 4 had a fire. In Ramrajya godown fire was reported 2 months back only. Nafad had borrowed a space of 41,000 square foot. Team of Ahmedabad WareHouse and Nafad were on run after the fire was reported.
Surprisingly the godown does not have electrical connection , in which case lot of suspicion is created with fire incident. Fire has been brought under control as per latest reports. Faldu did not deny possibility of manmade fire in the incident. He has order CID in the case. FSL and Insurance team visited the site to probe and have estimate on the loss
43,000 bags of groundnut were burnt out in the fire.
FSL told that fire is manmade. District Collector and SP level of officials visited the site.
Mainsh Doshi of Congress spokesman blamed of manmade fire and not a natural fire. This is nothing but a conspiracy. If there is no electrical connection then how fire could take place questioned Doshi.
