Ahmedabad, December 20, 2021: The right career guidance at an early age along with appropriate information and knowledge about different careers in the dynamic and fast-changing global professional sphere does help children make an informed career choice. With a view to achieve this, Kalorex Group-run Calorx Public School (CPS) at Ghatlodia in Ahmedabad on Saturday announced the launch of a Career Counselling Laboratory.
Mr Jaideep Banerjee, Director – Outreach Programmes, ERO and Placement Cell Strategic Engagements at Karnavati University, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Career Counselling Laboratory along with Dr Gaurav Shah, Assistant Professor and Coordinator in the Department of Biotechnology at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), Surat, who was the speaker for the launch event.
The career counselling laboratory will conduct Career Exploration Awareness sessions for students of class 6-10. Two such virtual sessions have already been conducted at CPS Ghatlodia over the past month and with the launch of this laboratory, the idea is to conduct more of these seminars and workshops to make students aware of different career prospects.
Mr. Jaideep Banerjee, gave a thorough picture about emerging careers in a globalised world, and how a grounding in mathematics and economics is currently in great demand due to a complete transformation in the marketplace and consumer behaviour. Dr. Gaurav Shah, explained the emergence bio technology a powerful career option. He emphasized the concepts from a layman’s perspective. Furthermore, he asked students to remember three things in life: knowledge, skills and motivation. Though the subject was new to the students, they took keen interest in knowing about it.
Sharing her thoughts, Ms Nirali Dagli, Principal, CPS Ghatlodia, said, “Career decisions play a pivotal role in shaping the future development and growth of students. With the fast-changing professional world, professional roles too are undergoing a drastic change, with some being rendered obsolete whereas newer roles emerging. CPS Ghatlodia strongly believes that if students are given an environment to explore multiple career opportunities, they can make informed choices. Students of class 6-10 are in the age of transformation and it is the duty of parents and the school to provide them with specific insights on a variety of such career options so that they can identify their interests and hone their skills accordingly.”
The laboratory will hold a series of face to face awareness sessions to help them understand the importance of career planning. CPS Ghatlodia also plans to hold sessions and seminars in the school to enlighten students about different courses and opportunities available, criteria for applying to national and international universities of repute in addition to other vital information.
Both the guests of honour appreciated the setting up of the Career Counselling Laboratory to help build the right foundation for students’ professional career.
