Bihar train accident near Chhapra: 4 killed, 8 injured; No sabotage says Railways

In a train mishap at Chhapra, at least four passengers were killed and eight injured when the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (12236) derailed at Golden Ganj station near Chhapra early today in suspected sabotage by Maoists. All the injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment and some of them referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital in Patna”.

As per Railway authorities, 12 coaches have been derailed in the incident at around 0200 hours today,between Chhapra and Golden Ganj stations, minutes after the train left Chhapra. Five coaches – B1, B2, B3, B4 and a Pantry car – overturned as a result of the derailment, while seven other coaches – B-5 to B-10 and power car – got derailed near the station, about 75 kms from Patna.

Attempts of sabotage or hand of Maoists behind the derailment of the Rajdhani Express train were ruled out by authorities.
