In Gujarat and Ahmedabad city-based activists have submitted a memorandum to Ahmedabad collector and appealed that the wastage of ghee in the annual event of Goddess Vardayini in Rupal village of Gandhinagar be stopped.
According to the memorandum, “superstition” still prevails in Gujarat where people waste litres of pure ghee worth thousands of lakhs of rupees.
Activists feel the same amount spend of pouring ghee on Goddess Vardayini could be used in charitable work.
