Anupam Kher while emotionally and aggressively speaking at sa‘The Telegraph National Debate Kher said that there was no intolerance and it was only talked about by rich people at drink champagne. He further added “This is a no debate. The rich and the famous are talking of intolerance. If you ask a man on the street, they won’t talk about intolerance. All they want is food two times a day. Those with a champagne in a glass are only talking about it. Are you living in India or America.” Kher said the “biggest” form of intolerance in the country was during the emergency when all those people who spoke against the government were jailed. Mocking Rahul Gandhi, he said, “Congress is the most tolerant in India because they are tolerating a person whom they want to project as a prime minister of this country”. He added that he would vote for Rahul if he became 1/10th of what PM Modi was.
“If you can tolerate that person then you can tolerate anything in the world. This is ridiculous. Did you hear the word intolerance before the last eight months? This has been marketed to take revenge for the defeat in the last elections,” Kher said, adding, corruption is “not being talked about” in the last two years while in the last ten years, corruption was the most talked about topic.”
He added: “‘Hai kuch aise log party mein jo bakwaas karte hain. Chahe woh Sadhvi hai, aur koi Yogi hai, unko andar kar dena chahiye, unko daatna chahiye aur unko nikaal dena chahiye. (There are a few in the party who talk nonsense. Be it Sadhvi or Yogi, they should be jailed, scolded and thrown put of the party).” Sadhvi Prachi’s comments have often landed her in trouble and even the VHP has distanced itself. “The VHP wants to make it clear again that Sadhvi Prachi is neither its leader, nor spokesperson nor any office-bearer… Her statements should not be linked to the VHP,” its international joint general secretary Surendra Jain said in a statement. He said she had contested election and is active in electoral politics hence she cannot be called a VHP functionary. “Nobody active in electoral politics can be a VHP office-bearer,” he said.”If Rahul Gandhi became even one-tenth of what Prime Minister Narendra Modi was, I would vote for him, said Anupam Kher.
