Pune, India – The U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, in partnership with Amcham India, is pleased to announce the launch of the Amcham India Pune Chapter, marking a significant step in advancing U.S.-India business and strategic ties. The launch event brought together key stakeholders from various sectors, including policymakers, business leaders, technocrats, and entrepreneurs, with a shared goal of fostering collaboration and innovation across industries.
U.S. Consul General Mike Hankey highlighted the importance of U.S.-India economic partnerships during his keynote address. “India and the United States are witnessing a dynamic and resilient trade relationship. With the right partnerships and a focus on innovation, we expect this relationship to reach $500 billion by 2030. Amcham India’s Pune Chapter is ideally positioned to contribute to this shared goal by fostering collaboration and innovation across industries,” said Hankey.
The Amcham Pune Chapter aims to drive growth and development in key areas such as sustainable manufacturing, academic partnerships, and women’s economic empowerment. The event underscored the critical role U.S. businesses and institutions play in empowering India’s growth story, particularly through technology and innovation.
A significant focus of the chapter’s activities will be empowering women’s participation in India’s workforce. “To fully realize India’s potential as a global partner, it is essential to develop an economy that includes all citizens. U.S. companies are setting the bar for women’s economic empowerment, particularly through initiatives in Pune led by firms like John Deere and Cummins, which are driving positive change through skilling and workforce development,” noted Consul General Hankey.
In addition to promoting gender inclusivity, the chapter will emphasize building partnerships between universities and industries to drive innovation in areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and sustainable technology. These partnerships are critical to the growth of both countries and are seen as key drivers of economic progress.
“Bilateral trade should thrive unburdened by unnecessary regulations. We encourage businesses to be vocal in shaping policies that protect our citizens while allowing industries to flourish,” said Hankey, stressing the need for collaborative policymaking in driving innovation.
The launch of the Amcham Pune Chapter marks a significant step in strengthening U.S.-India ties, particularly in the growing sectors of technology and sustainable development. With its focus on inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration, the chapter is set to play a pivotal role in advancing strategic goals and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between the two nations.
