In wake of year ending and various new year programs in Ahmedabad city, Incharge Police Commissioner Vikas Sahay in an official communication to the people of Ahmedabad has conveyed about precautionary vehicular restrictions, parking arrangement, their effective timings on prominent roads of Ahmedabad like CG Road , SG Road and their connectivity from different access points coming into effect on 31st December and 1st January. Many people from Ahmedabad widely access CG Road and SG Road in western Ahmedabad during year end celebration to catch events and happenings on these roads for fun and to watch lighting decorations etc.
Elaborate rerouting of CG Road and SG Road is as follows:
On 31st December on CG Road from Stadium Circle to Panchvati from 18:00 hrs entry of vehicles will be restricted except for special vehicle.
From Samartheshwar Mahadev to Bodyline Cross, from Gulbai Tekra via Bodyline Cross Road upto both the sides of Samartheshwar Mahadev will be open and can be crossed. CG Road will be open for pedestrian but vehicles will not be permitted from 20:00 hrs.
From Mithakhali Circle to Girish Cold Drink via St Xavier’s College Road and from Navrangpura Bus Stop to Swastik Cross Road via Commerce 6 Roads both the sides will be kept open and CG Road will be closed for vehicles. On CG Road vehicles will absolutely be not permitted from 20:00 hrs.
From Havmor Circle to Stadium via Sardar Patel statue and from Commerce 6 Roads to Vipul Dhudiya Gali via Stadium Circle towards Havmor Circle road on both the sides will be open. No vehicles will be permitted on CG Road.
Official Parking arrangement on CG Road will be discontinued from 18:00 hrs.
SG Highway Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway has been closed for both medium and heavy vehicles. People will have to use parallel internal roads.
This arrangement of vehicular traffic, parking arrange and access to road will hold from 31st December 20:00 hrs till 1st January 15:00 hrs.
Government vehicles including Fire Fighters and Ambulance will be permitted on CG Road.
People found violating this provisions will be booked under criminal sections 188 and sub section 131 of Gujarat Police Act 1951 (sec no 22 with sub section 33 (1) (b)(c) and Motor Vehicle Act 1999 rule 207).
