Finally, protest of Ahmedabad residents from Jodhpur and Satellite have worked and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is forced to roll back the recent hike introduced on property tax. This is in the history of 100 years of AMC mandate that, approvals cleared in Standing Committee Meeting, which is an administrative wing, is compelled to give relief to property owner and property tax payers of AMC wards. Protest, initially started from Jodhpur ward, which is political zone of Ahmedabad Mayor, Meenakshiben Patel. AMC had another reason as Municipal elections are scheduled early next year and this type of protest and sudden hike can adversely affect the poll results. As per AMC sources, 10 to 15 % hike in property tax is justifiable. Presently, Ahmedabad localites have a relief from AMC. The matter for revocation of property tax has been put up to Standing committee for favourable consideration.
