Ahmedabad: Historical Ellis Bridge partially broken
Today in Ahmedabad, part of historical and very famous Ellis Bridge was found partially broken.
It is needless to remind that recently Ahmedabad was declared as World Heritage City by United Nations.

Part of coal tar road was collapsed from the centre. Even, the metal arch shaped blocks have started rusting.
Ellis Bridge is located along the sides of Sabarmati river. It was the first area developed outside walled city on the west bank of Sabarmati river. It is an amalgam of residential settlements, hospitals, and educational institutions. VS Hospital (Vadilal Sarabhai). Among the educational institutes, Gujarat College, Gujarat Institute of civil Engineers and Architects and Law College are here. A large number of schools are also situated along the sides of Sabarmati river. Hotels like The Westend, Radisson Hotel, Inder Residency, Hotel Shalin Suites, Hotel Nalanda, Hotel Chicago provide accommodation. Local attractions include Law garden and Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology. M J Library is one of the major library of the city. Ellis Bridge Gymkhana and Oriental Club are recreational clubs here.
Ellis Bridge is a century old bridge situated in Ahmedabad built by British Engineers during British rule. It bridges the western and eastern parts of the city across the Sabarmati river. This bowstring arch truss bridge was the first bridge of Ahmedabad constructed in 1892. Later new concrete wings were constructed on either side in 1997 and it was renamed as Swami Vivekananda Bridge but is still known to people by its old name.
It is one of the bridges over Sabarmati river. It is like identity of Ahmedabad and very important ancient architectural monument maintained by Estate Department of AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
