Today in Ranip of Ahmedabad, Gujarat High Court extended the stay against hut dwellers of plot number 50 near Sundarvan Society. Plea on plot number 51 has been cleared. Next hearing will be conducted on July 13.
In this case, District Collector and Railway Department have submitted their reply. However, the applicant’s lawyer pleaded that 143 poor families live in the plot and pays tax for past 25 years to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Looking at the background of the mattaer, Railway Department acquired the land hundred years ago but did not use it for the very purpose for which it was given and handed over the land to state government.
State government inturn sold it to builders and builders issued notice to hut dwellers.
