On Thursday, in a major round of transfers prior to 2017 Assembly elections in Gujarat, government has announced large scale transfers of 83 IAS officers. Ahmedabad has a new city collector appointed with 2003 batch IAS officer Avantika Singh Aulakh has replaced Rajkumar Beniwal as collector of Ahmedabad district. The majority of IAS officers are collectors and district development officers (DDO). Aulakh hails from Hoshiarpur , Punjab who is a BE in Instrumentation and Control. She was posted as collector of Vadodara in February 2015. She has also served in Bharuch and Anand as collector and DDO in Gandhinagar. Talking to Mirror Aulakh said, “I am open for new challenges.”
