After fire incident in Rajkot’s TRP game zone, gaming centres across Ahmedabad ordered to shut down.
Recent deadly game zone fire claimed 28 lives of Rajkot compeled civic authorities of Ahmedabad to probe security and safety at game zones of the city.
It was revealed that 6 out of 34 gaming zones were running in the city without valid permissions/licenses.Post Gujarat High Court’s strict order on scrutinising of gaming zones in major cities, AMC Commissioner called for a meeting at with officials from various departments, including estate and fire.Game zones were under scrutiny after the AMC’s meeting in the Ahmedabad city. Ahmedabad has 28 indoor and 6 outdoor gaming zones, which are being probed. It was revealed that Gota-based Fungrito and JoyBox game zones in South Bopal lacked BU Building Usage permission issued by AMC, whereas the Fun Campus located near Nikol lacked a NOC non-objection certificate from Fire Department. In Jodhpur area, a gaming zone has been operating without BU permissions. Also, the Joy and Joy gaming zone in Chandlodia were found lacking Fire NOC for building usage. FunZone near Aarohi Crest Road in Bopal lacked fire NOC for building usage. As per reports many other game zones on Sindhu Bhavan Road in north-west zone of Ahmedabad city, SG Highway, are operational without any valid permissions, violating mandatory norms of Estate and Fire department of AMC. In heart of the city, AhmedabadOne Mall had four unauthorised game zones which lacked Fire department and AMC’s License. Despite an inspection, 3 more zones were started with the permission of 1 game zone. Three game zones were operational in the mall without police permission. Fun Blast game zone in Gota is said to be owned by former Amraiwadi BJP councillor. It was reportedly operational on a leave and licence agreement. During the investigation by the fire department, it was found that there was a lack of a proper smoke ventilator system and internal smoke detectors in the game zone.
