In a novel step towards improving Ahmedabad city,AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation invited its past office bearers and mayors for a meeting to discuss in detail on issues that still affect AMC administration like water supply, drainage, epidemic control and waterborne diseases. Yesterday a the meeting was chaired by present mayor Gautam Shah. The meeting was aimed at discussion on the Smart City proposal. Former medical officer health (MOH) S P Kulkarni, former Deputy Commisioner Dilip Mahajan, former city engineer and mayors like Malini Atit, Amit Shah, Asit Vora and few others were at the meeting.The present DyMCs, assistant city engineers, health and sanitary inspectors were also invited to the meeting. Suggestions by former officers were minuted . “We are taking suggestions of retired officers seriously. They have discussed with us positions of underground civic lines, disease hot spots and how to deal with them, reasons for drainage contamination, town planning issues and water pressure issues ,” said mayor Gautam Shah. Senior AMC officials claim that the former officers may be called in more often for advice.
