Ahmedabad: Fire in grocery store killed 4 of a family in Naranpura
Early morning in Ahmedabad, Fire in grocery store killed 4 of family in Naranpura area at Vardan Tower.
In the groud floor there are a few illegal shops including the grocery store, which caught fire.
5 teams of Fire Fighters tried to extinguish the fire. Wounded persons have been taken to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. 4 persons died during treatment.
It is learnt that BU permission of Vardan Tower is not taken and as per source the tower is owned by Bhupendra Patel MLA Naranpura.
Primary reason for the fire is attributed to short circuit due to lack of proper ventilation.
A year back, Society Chairman wrote to AMC commissioner about the illegal construction but no action was taken by AMC.
There was a lack of fire safety arrangement in the grocery store where the tragedy of fire took place.
Ahmedabad Mayor Gautam Shah has reached the site.
