Today Festival of Eid-e-Milad is being celebrated in India. In Ahmedabad, it is celebrated at Jama Masjid near Manekchowk.
People observe Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad a day dedicated to Prophet Mohammad and his teachings. However, Eid-e-Milad is both a day to celebrate and to mourn, since it is also the death anniversary of the Prophet.
Muslims gathered in large number at Jama Masjid and exchange greetings on Eid. They offered namaj at Masjid.
Eid was declared on Thursday by Chand Committee. Traffic in the city diverted today due to Eid.
