In Ahmedabad, as a precautionary measure and looking at aftermath of the Patidar rally on August 25, 2015, Ahmedabad police have decided to include deputing 25 executive magistrates, at the upcoming Anti Addiction Awareness Rally by Thakor community to be held on Jan 26 in Ahmedabad at GMDC ground. As per police, magistrates will make video recordings of speeches and crowd movement at the rally organised by the Thakor community.
The rally will be led by OBC leader Alpesh Thakor. “At least 25 executive magistrates will be present at the GMDC ground on Tuesday and they will record the speeches and crowd movement on cameras. In addition, seven deputy commissioner of police (DCP), 10 deputy superintendent of police (DySP), 100 police inspectors and 2,500 police constables will be at GMDC ground for monitoring and surveillance. 600 lady police constables, 1,300 state reserve police force (SRPF) jawans along with police staff of Zone 1 and Zone 7 will be deployed to maintain law and order,” said a police source. The updates were shared following a meeting of senior IPS and police officers on Saturday to decide on an action place for the January 26 rally. Traffic police department has worked out an action plan to maintain smooth traffic movement near GMDC ground and surrounding areas.
