Today in Ahmedabad, one Dalit pregnant women and sanitation worker and agitating for permanency of job outside AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation building was beaten up by police.
The agitation was made by Jan Sangharsh Manch and Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch for labour rights. More than 100 people were detained by police. However, situation was under control.
Jignesh Mevani Dalit leader said that for the third time, we were detained by police. There is no place in the city where people can make demonstration complained Mevani.
He added that one police was standing on the chest of one aged sanitation worker.
