New Initiative Organized for Ahmedabad City Police through Sports event
‘Ahmedabad City Police Sports-2024’ will be launched on February 19 by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel
11 teams will participate in sports meet organized at Shahibagh Police Head Quarters – a total of 13 games will be played
Around 1500 police officers and employees of Ahmedabad city will participate in sports meet
Work done by the police for proper implementation of Law and Order and Public Safety in Gujarat is very challenging and very difficult. Sports have always played a major role in enhancing physical fitness, discipline and sense of sportsmanship – morale – while police work 24 hours a day for the safety and security of people and it is also necessary to strengthen the physical and mental health of the police personnel amidst their workload.
‘Ahmedabad City Police Spots Meet-2024’ has been organized to bring out the sports talent and skills within the Ahmedabad City Police and to increase interest of police in sports.
Inauguration ceremony of ‘Ahmedabad City Police Sports-2024’ will be held by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel tomorrow on February 19 at JD Nagarwala Stadium at Shahibagh Police Headquarters. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, State Police Chief Vikas Sahay and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik will also be present in the inauguration ceremony.
In this sports meet, 11 teams have been prepared from police officers and personnel from across the city of Ahmedabad to participate in various categories of sports activities, in which around 1500 police officers and personnel of the city of Ahmedabad will participate.
Among ttotal 11 teams of the sports meet, first team is Zone-1, second team is Zone-2, third team is Zone-3, fourth team is Zone-4, fifth team is Zone-5, sixth team is Zone-6, seventh team is Zone-7, eighth team is Headquarters,nineth Team os Traffic, tenth Team is Crime Branch and eleventh Team is CP Office. Special Branch, Control Room and other branches have been included as a team.
Total 13 sports have been scheduled in the sports meet, including Hockey, Volleyball, Football, Kabaddi, Tennis, Handball, Wrestling, Table Tennis, Tug of War, Badminton, Basket Ball, Athletics and Shooting (for officials only). is
Also in Athletics (1) 100m run (2) 200m run (3) 400m run (4) 800m run (5) 1500m run (6) Steeplechase run-100m (7) Steeplechase run-400m ( 8) Relay Race – 4100m (9) Relay Race – 4400m (10) Long Jump (11) High Jump (12) Triple Jump (13) Shot Put (14) Bamboo Shot (15) Discus Throw ( 16) Games like Hammer Throw (17) Javelin Throw (18) Javelin Throw have been included.
According to Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner, ground and stadium for all these games have been finalised and the ground has been prepared. National Games rules and SOPs will be applied for the games to be played according to the rules. Referees in these games will also come from SAG Sports Authority of Gujarat and Sports Federation. Each zone team will have a maximum of 100 male players and 50 female players in games.
Practice matches have already been started to ensure that only the best players participate in teams of all zones. All the players in the zonal teams will also be provided Sports Uniform with identical colored T-shirt and Track Pants to maintain uniformity of the game. Equipment/Playing Kit is also arranged for all sports.
A Parade and Cultural program has been organized at Opening Ceremony of the sports meet . Parade and Prize dDstribution will also be held at Closing Ceremony of the meet. Police officers, police personnel, families (women and children) of Police Head Quarters and common citizens will be present as spectators in the sporting event.
