Ahmedabad, May 30, 2022: The sports landscape of Gujarat has yet another emerging star making his mark. 12-year-old, Jahan Patel from Ahmedabad, became the runner up in the 48th-38th sub-Junior Gujarat State Aquatic Championships 2022 held in Rajkot over the last weekend. The championship was organised by Gujarat State Aquatic Association which is affiliated with the Swimming Federation of India and Gujarat State Olympic Association.
Jahan Patel bagged three gold medals namely, in 100-metre backstroke, medley relay – wherein the team made a state-level record and in 200-metre backstroke. He also bagged a silver medal in 400-metre Individual Medley (IM) and a bronze in 800-metre freestyle as part of the championship. He is a student of Calorx Olive International School in Ahmedabad.
The two-day competitive sports event was inaugurated by Mr. Pradip Dav, the Honourable Mayor of Rajkot, in which 350 students from across the state participated.
Jahan trained under Mr. Hardik Patel, the Head Swimming Coach at Rajpath Club in Ahmedabad. Jahan has delivered exceptional performances at international-level events too in the past.
