In Ahmedabad, as recarpeting of 3.5 km runway has been completed of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA). Due to runway strip maintenance work, the runway was non-operational for take-off and landing from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm since 16th April this year. Maintenance work was carried out at an expense of Rs 30 crores. Flight operations during the entire ongoing summer schedule starting from 27 March were disturbed due to runway maintenance work. Some operators had to reschedule their flights to early morning or late night hours, whereas some flights were canceled for summer schedule and some were diverted to nearby Vadodara airport.
Flight operations from 1st Oct onwards will be make during even day time.
