Today in a landmark judgement, Mumbai Session Court charged actor Salman Khan with 5 years of Jail Term and a fine of Rs 25,000 in 2002 hit and run case under Mumbai Vehicle. Salman Khan cried after hearing Court ‘s verdict about jail term. He met his parents before entering the court.
Lawyer, Abha Singh while talking to media said that Court in the beginning said that Salman Khan you were driving the car we know and plea of his driver Ashok Singh claiming that he was driving the car was turned down.
Salman will be taken to Arthur Road jail. He can move High Court againt the verdict.
Lawyer Abha said that now justice has been done, this judgement should have come in Nov 2014. In India, No body is above law, you cannot do away with money and power.
Salman Khan is charged under IPC sections 304 part II (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) which attracts upto 10 years in prison. This is the most serious charge.279 (rash and negligent driving) which stipulates six months jail;337 & 338 (causing hurt by act endangering life and causing grievous hurt respectively) with punishment up to two years, and 427 (mischief causing damage to property) with maximum punishment of upto two years. Under Motor Vehicle Act, the actor is charged with Sections 34 (a), (b) read with 181 (driving vehicle in contravention of rules) and 185 (driving at great speed after consuming alcohol). Salman Khan is also charged under sections of Bombay Prohibition Act relating to driving under influence of alcohol with maximum six months’ jail.
