India wide Students demonstatre and protest with placards and banners on roads including Gujarat, for justice amid NEET (The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) results controversy. Today, a big number of students in Rajkot protested, holding banners against taking NEET-UG exam again. A NEET-UG aspirant said I have scored 682 marks in the NEET-UG exam. There should not be another NEET exam because I have achieved these marks through rigorous hard work. Students who have scored less than 600 marks are demanding a Re-examination. It is not possible to retake exam after almost two and a half months. These people are playing with our future. Ministry of Education has handed over cases to central investigating agency CBI Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct thorough investigations into alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, as per sources. On May 8, a complaint regarding irregularities in the exam was registered at Godhra Taluka Police Station of Gujarat.
In order to ensure a thorough investigation into the case, state government has decided to hand over the investigation of FIR registered at Godhra Taluka Police Station to the CBI. The probe has been entrusted to CBI under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946. Gujarat, Home Department has also served a notification in this regard. On June 22 just a day before NEET-UG retest the Centre removed the chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA) Subodh Kumar Singh. Also NEET-UG 2024 examination was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) lasting 5 days in May. The results were declared on June 4. Subsequent to result announcement, controversies rose on irregularities and allegations of paper leaks. It came to light hat 67 students had topped the exam with 720 marks. Subsequently, Apex Court granted permission for the re-examination of over 1,500 students, who were to be awarded grace marks.
