Priyanka said my dear workers, brothers and sisters, you all are very welcome to the gathering. Priyanka and other supporters chanted name of Amba Maa at the gathering.
Congress GS sais look, this is the land of Gujarat, from here the greatest personality of the world, perhaps in the entire generation of ours and the previous generations, perhaps the greatest personality of the world was given to the world by you, Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhiji was born here. Sardar Patelji was also a son of Gujarat. Veer Ranchhod Rabariji was also from this land. What did all these great men fight for, all these great men fought for your freedom, well this is an old thing. 70 years have passed, our country is free, independent. A constitution was made in our country, it emerged from the fight, all our freedom fighters, all the great men, whether it was Patelji, Gandhiji, Nehruji, everyone fought against the British Empire and got our country free and gave us a constitution.
You will have to understand importance of the Constitution that they have given to us. Today it is very important that you understand some basic things about the politics of our country and about your life properly, so that whatever decision you are going to take in the elections, you take it after thinking carefully and with all the information. When we talk about the Constitution, we are raising the issue today especially because many BJP leaders who are contesting elections, some ministers who are roaming around the country, have said that if BJP wins again, the Constitution will be changed. Therefore today the first thing I want to talk about is the Constitution. Because it is important to understand what this Constitution is and how it affects your life. You get rights from the Constitution. The biggest right is that you can cast your vote. The right has been given to you, to farmers of the country, to poor of the country, to laborers of the country and also to Prime Minister of India, to ministers of the country, to big personalities of the country. Meaning, everyone has equal rights. As much power as your vote has, so much power is in their vote. Their vote does not have more power than yours. All citizens of the country have equal right to the vote.
This vote has been given to you by the constitution. Reservation has also been given to you by the constitution. So right of reservation is that if any community or any caste feels that they are not getting proper opportunities, they have been oppressed or exploited for many years, then the constitution says that you should get some rights and you should get reservation. It means that, if you get employment, then some employment should be reserved for you. It is also given to you by the constitution. So these are two very big things, which you get from the constitution. Along with this, if you want to criticize someone or question any leader or political party that what have you done for me, why did you do such a thing, then you can also protest. You can stand up, you can raise your voice. This right has also been given to you by the constitution. Now when these people say that they want to change the constitution, then what do they mean? They mean that whatever rights have been given to you, they will reduce them. They will be weakened. Because if you see and understand today’s politics, you will clearly know that the biggest thing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done in the last ten years is to weaken rights of thepeople.
There used to be great Prime Ministers. They used to come to your village, they used to come to your home and when they came to your home and your village, you used to demand your rights. I have seen this myself with my father and my grandmother. I went to a small village in UP, in a very backward district, where it was difficult for me to reach today, because it was a very long journey by car, on the way I took a helicopter, then a car, then I reached and when I went to a village, a small old woman told me there, small because she was so old that she was bent like this, she told me that when your grandmother came, the kheer that I am feeding you, I had made the same kheer and fed it to her.
I used to go to the village with my father, following him. So when he went to someone’s house in his own parliamentary constituency, if he did not get any facility or water was not coming or those India Marks which were used in those days, those taps were not installed or roads were not built, he used to get scolded. Public used to scold him that you are the Prime Minister, you did not install our taps and people used to tell him that look, we will vote for you only when you build roads, when you bring water. We love you a lot, come, eat, have tea, but we will get votes only when you do our work. This was the politics of a time and who laid the foundation of this politics, the greatest son of Gujarat- Mahatma Gandhi
