A high level urgent meeting was called today at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, state officials and expert doctors,Covid Task Force had a detailed meeting on current situation.

Gujarat An estimated 70% to 80% of Coronavirus cases currently occurring in the state are Omicron variant cases, Omicron mild but are spreading very fast, people should be alert, wear masks, do not be part of crowd, it is the responsibility of citizens to follow vaccination guideline says Rushikesh Patel, Minister of Health of Gujarat.

Third wave of Coronavirus in Gujarat has now become a Tsunami. Health department has been on rum with more than 17,000 cases in a single day. However, Covid Task Force has been called by government after 17,000 cases. The government has started a series of meetings with Covid task force to curb the situation. In this case, members of Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel’s Covid Task Force comprise of Dr. V. N. Shah, Sudhir Shah, RK Patel, Amiben Parikh, Tushar Patel, Atul Patel and Dilip Mavalankar.
There is no medicine for Omicron variant said Dr. Sudhir Shah
After meeting of the task force, Dr. Sudhir Shah said that the new variant Omicron has arrived. About 60 to 70 percent of cases are Omicron vaariant. The Delta variant is also present. Omicron spreads rapidly. Children who have not been vaccinated should be alert. There is no prescriptive drug. The previous drug did not work.
Omicron does not subside to Hybrid immunity said Dr. Atul Patel
Dr. Atul Patel said that at present number of cases of Coronavirus is increasing and this increase is Omicron variant. There was trouble in April, May and June last year. Hybrid immunity has no effect. Delta was a stormy variant which Damaged body parts. Omicron affects nose, throat and trachea and causes less damage to lungs. Due to which less patients have to be admitted in hospital. Vaccination was low when it was Delta variant. Most people are currently vaccinated.

This virus needs to be taken seriously. Patients will be divided into two categories namely Low and High Disease. Currently there is a low risk and patients recover in four to five days.
Patients who have lung damage and need Oxygen need to be given Steroids. Drug Azithromycin is effective.
If you have a cold or cough, wear a mask at home said Dr. Dilip Mavalankar
“Corona is spreading fast and is still growing,” said Dilip Mavalankar. Vaccination has prevented patients from going to hospital. Masks and social distance are necessary to prevent further spread of Coronavirus. The situation will be known in next three to four weeks. Donot go out unnecessarily, avoid gatherings, be isolated at home if you have symptoms, wear a mask at home if you have a cold or cough. If there are high risk patients at home, youth should stay away for one month. Older or younger people need to take care of themselves at home if they are Co-morbid. Occasions will come but it should not be crowded.
Report only if there are symptoms said Dr. VN Shah
“The virus has not gone and we have to live with it,” said Dr VN Shah of Zydus Hospital. It is important not to try to consider it as Flu but to take it seriously. Masks, social distance and sanitation are required. This will still be necessary to be followed for next two years. People who have been admitted to ICU have not been vaccinated. Children have not yet received vaccine, so take this virus seriously. Isolation is only for 7 days. Unnecessarily report should not be done. Only those with symptoms should undergo report. RTPCR test is required even if there are symptoms and rapid test is negative. It is necessary to wear two masks where there is a crowd.
Drink 4 to 5 liters of water daily said Dr. Tushar Patel
“Currently, there are mild cases,” Patel said. In mild cases there is fever, 101, 102 degrees and 99 the next day. Taking Paracetamol tablets reduces fever. Colds occur and nose get blocked. Coughing occurs after three four days. Sore throat also occurs. Have trouble in eating Donot panic with this pain. Lungs have less infection in this cases. Drink plenty of fluids and drink 4 to 5 liters of water. Only those with persistent fever and cold cough and Co-morbid have to be hospitalized. Very few people need Oxygen. Patients should be admitted to the hospital only if they have difficulty in breathing.

Health Minister said that situation happened like third wave is ready to go to its peak. The government has made sure that minimum people need Oxygen and an ICU. The government has put SOP before people, which is now responsibility of peopleto follow. According to all experts, Omicron variant is mild, but if you do not wear a mask, do not maintain social distance and do not get vaccinated, you can get infected with it. The public has to comply with SOP by government. It is people’s responsibility to avoid punitive action of not wearing mask.
