Chief Judicial Magistrate UM Bhatt,Ahmedabad Court rejected the police’s application for further remand of Sunil Kakkad, the MD of Sai Info-System, Ahmedabad accused for fraud of Rs 941 crores of rupees. Ahmedabad Court and sent Kakkad to three-day judicial custody. He was produced in the court by SOG Ahmedabad.
Public prosecutor made an argument that, “Sunil’s brother Sameer is also suspected to have a part in the fraud. “They both need to be questioned together for the truth to come out. He felt that some employees of the firm might be involved in helping two brothers in the fraud. Sunil has transferred crores of rupees to foreign banks through hawala network. Therefore, three-day more days remand for further investigation was sought”. However, accused’s lawyer defended saying that his client was already in three day remand and it was enough time for cops to question him. “his client has given complete details to Police which he had. There are no new grounds to grant an extension on the remand.”
