A list of Gallantry Awards and Service Awards given to Police personnel on the occasion of Independence Day has been announced by the government. Home Ministry of India will award 215 employees with Police Medal for Gallantry, 80 with Presidential Police Medals, Special Service and 631 with Police Medals. No Gujarat policeman has won a Gallantry medal in the list. But two personnel will be awarded the President’s Medal and 17 personnel Police Medal. Total of 19 medals will come to Gujarat Police.
In this list, 23 policemen from Uttar Pradesh will be awarded Gallantry, 6 will be awarded President’s Medal and 73 will be awarded Police Medal. In Jammu and Kashmir, on the other hand, 81 will be awarded the Gallantry, one President’s Medal and 12 Police Medal. On the other hand, 14 personnel from Maharashtra will be awarded Gallantry, 5 President’s Medal and 39 Police Medal.
At the same time, 32 officers from CBI and 5 from NAI will be honored. In the public list from the Home Ministry, 58 from Maharashtra, 7 from Manipur, 3 from Mizoram, 2 from Nagaland, 2 from Odisha, 14 from Punjab, 18 from Rajasthan, 2 from Sikkim, 23 from Sikkim, 23 from Tamil Nadu, 14 from Telangana, 6 from Tripura, 4 from Uttarakhand and 4 from West Bengal will be awarded medals in different categories.
Among the Union Territories, 2 policemen from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 1 from Chandigarh, 35 from Delhi, 2 from Lakshadweep and 1 from Puducherry will be honored.
