This time in Ahmedabad city, for the first time in history Lord Jagannath’s 143rd Rath Yatra will be taken out without devotees in a very simple manner due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Today Gujarat deputy chief minister Nitin Patel along with Maharaj, temple trustees performed Jal Abhishek ceremony at Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad city.
On 23rd June Rath Yatra will not have accompaniment of troupes, tableau trucks, and big crowd of devotees.
Three chariots, each to be pulled by 30 sailors who are doing these job traditionally for many years, will be taken out in the presence of temple trustees and priests as part of the 143rd edition of the yatra on June 23 on Ashadhi Beej said Jagannath temple trustee.
On 21st Netrotsav will be performed in presence of temple trustees and priests at Sabarmati river after 4 pm the day being solar eclipse day. Three chariots are being painted and readied.
