Today evening ISRO Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched a radar imaging earth observation satellite RISAT-2BR1 and nine foreign customer satellites using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C48 launch vehicle.
RISAT-2BR1 satellite was launched from SDSC Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
RISAT-2BR1 will cater to applications like agriculture, forest, disaster management.
ISRO stated that the setellites are being launched under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Ltd. The mission life of RISAT2-BR1 is five years. RISAT-2BR1 followes the launch of RISAT-2B in 22nd May. This is the second satellite in the RISAT-2B series and two more are expected to be launched in coming days to complete a quarter of these ‘spy satellites’.
