Today evening, Rajya Sabha clears 10% quota for poorer sections in general category. The Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill has passed the Rajya Sabha test tonight with 165 ‘Yes’ and 7 ‘No’ votes.
A total of 165 MPs belonging to the BJP and the Opposition Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajawadi Party and BSP among others supported the move and seven MPs opposed it.
After clearance in Lok Sabha the bill was tabled in Rajya Sabha for its approval.
