RBI Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is ready to launch lavender-coloured Rs 100 currency notes soon. New note will be smaller than in size than currenr Rs 100-rupee note that is in circulation signed by Urijit Patel, RBI Governor. Earlier Rs 100-rupee banknotes in the earlier series will continue to be in market.
New Rs 100 note will symbolize Rani Ki Vav, a stepwell in the town of Patan, Gujarat.
In November 2016, PM Narendra Modi declared scrapping of old notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500. The objective of introducing new currency notes is being said to apply black money, fake notes and terror financing.
