In Gujarat, NCTE National Council for Teacher Education decides to shut down 13 BEd colleges including 3 affiliated to the Gujarat University.
NCTE had sent show cause notice to colleges and demanding documentation about qualifications possessed by the faculty at college.
13 BEd colleges were closed due to want to insufficient and suitably qualified teaching staff.
A few college did not bother to respond to NCTE notice or provided incomplete documentation sought by NCTE hence decision of closure of colleges was taken.
13 BEd College include 1 college, Akash Adhyapan Mandir at Ognaj of son of BEd faculty Dean Gujarat University RH Patel, Nikol BEd College, Morbi BEd college, Bayad BEd College, Pilvai, Godhra and Jundal.
