Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown interest in strengthening bilateral relations. Putin said he is interested in closely working with newly-elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promised to work for lifting bilateral ties in economic, military and technical cooperation. Putin further added, our relations are above political relations.He said India is an “outstanding civilisation” and congratulated India on the recent successful conduct of the general elections.
“We have a lot of cooperation in many areas, historically and otherwise. The prospects of cooperation are high. We are doing everything to fulfil this,” Mr. Putin said. He thanked India for standing by Russia and not joining the sanctions imposed by the western countries on the Ukraine issue.
