Movie Review of Heropanti

Starring: Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon

Directed by Sabir Khan

Rating: * * * * Stars

Heropanti starring debutantes Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon gives grand opening to Box Office. The film has a 2000 plus screen count, which is quite good for a film starring two Debutantes. The film directed by Sabbir Khan marks the debut of Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger Shroff and thus the star kid value will give the film an impetus to this film. He excels in every department. It’s a gaudy bustling wedding in Haryana where we meet a family of unapologetic ruffians posing as aristocrats.Director Sabir Khan whose debut film Kambakht Ishq gave a new definition to designer-filmmaking is far more in control of his plot this time. He yanks his city-bred protagonist Babloo out of the gym straight into the rugged hinterland of Haryana where elopement is a dirty word. While the first movement of the plot is baggy and limp around the edges with some of the intended humorous encounters between Babloo and the Dimpy falling flat on the face, the second moment packs in a rock-solid punch. And we do mean that literally.Tiger Shroff may look like a soft gentle romantic hero.Whether jumping from building to building or wooing the girl with corny courtship lines, there is an easy-going unflappable attitude to this debutant’s on-screen persona, as though to say, there is much more to the movies than just flamboyant machismo.

This is Tiger’s Big Ticket debut. And boy, does this Tiger burn bright! He emotes, he dances and yes, he can fight. Tiger shares a better chemistry with his cute co-star Kriti Sanon than Tiger’s father Jackie Shroff in Subhash Ghai’s Hero. Kriti Sanon is perky and sufficiently spontaneous for her first film.Heropanti is a full-on paisa vasool Sajid Nadiadwala entertainer. But as a masala entertainer that has more to say than one would expect from a film of this nature Heropanti gets its fundas right. Heropanti has a good screen count and will surely receive a good response over the weekend. Hit by the other big release of Rajiinikanth’s Kochadaiiyan in South, Heropanti had no takers in the Southern areas however. We can only say that A Star is truly Born Today by seeing Tiger Shroff!!!!!
