Gujarat FortuneGiants Outplay U Mumba 39-21 in Ahmedabad Pro Kabaddi Opener
Today in Ahmedabad in Pro Kabaddi an interesting contest between Gujarat FortuneGiants and U Mumba teams.Gujarat FortuneGiants team is led by Sukesh Hegde and U Mumba is led by Anup Kumar.

Gujarat Fortune Giants Outplay U Mumba 39-21 to lead the Zone A Standings with 13 points ahead of Puneri Paltan (11); Sachin of Kabaddi has taken birth Sachin Tawar (8) and Rohit Gulia (9) shared 17 points between them Gujarat Fortune Giants outplayed U Mumba 39-21 in their Vivo Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 match at The Arena by TransStadia today on Friday. With this second win the Giants have 13 points from four matches and are on the top in the Zone A standings.
The Gujarat FortuneGiants were off to a blistering start to their
home leg campaign with captain Sukesh Hegde opening the account. Soon U Mumba lost the do-or-die raid and the Giants made their intentions clear.
For Gujarat besides Sukesh, Rohit Gulia and Sachin Tawar made
successful raids to put Giants in command.
The Giants displayed their defence mechanism when star defenders
Abozar Mighani and Fazel Atrachali sent U Mumba raiders Anup Kumar and Shabeer Bapu on bench inside seven minutes. Abozar had five tackle points.
The Gujarat Fortune Giants inflicted first all out in the 10th minute.
The second all out came in the second last minute of the first half
when Kashiling Adake was caught in the trap laid by the home team
defence. The Giants led 20-6 at the half time.
U Mumba did make a comeback in second half but it was for a brief
period as the lead was out of reach.
After 30 minutes when time out the Giants led 26-13 a healthy 13
points lead. Rohit Gulia’s smart attack left U Mumba in deep crisis
with seven minutes remaining. U Mumba looked clueless and were beaten in all the departments.
With spectators firmly behind the home team and chanting ‘Gujarat
Gujarat‘, lifted the morale as Rohit and Sachin looked unstoppable.
Gujarat inflicted third all out of the match in the dying minutes of
the second half increasing the lead to 37-20 taking complete control
of the match.
Praising efforts of Sachin and Rohit, the Giants coach Manpreet Singh said, “The young blood is doing well in the Season 5. We have 80% of them. So we are going to do well.”
Captain Sukesh with four points looked different player. According to Sukesh the home support made a big difference. “It is always good to play at home. You have fans behind you and it does make a difference in performance of a player. I am confident we are going to win all the matches. Garjega Gujarat,” he roared.
On Saturday The Giants play Dabang Delhi.

The state’s very own first Pro Kabaddi League team Gujarat Fortune Giants saw a glittering launch with unveiling of official jersey today amidst much fanfare in Ahmedabad.
India’s iconic freestyle wrestler, Geeta Phogat flew down specially for the unveiling ceremony. She visited the training camp at SAI, Gandhinagar and had an interactive session with the team and support staff. The renowned Indian wrestler of international repute advised players of Gujarat FortuneGiants on vital fitness tips for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League Season 5. She talked about various aspects of fitness and workouts that contributes towards increasing the bar of endurance and stamina. It was indeed an enriching experience for the players of Pro-Kabaddi League’s Gujarat FortuneGiants.
Top officials from team owner Adani Wilmar Limited like Pranav Adani, Managing Director, Angshu Mallick, Chief Operating Officer graced the occasion along with the captain, coaches and team CEO.
The day also marked the formal public announcement of the formation of the team and the introduction of players before the team raids into its maiden game on August 1 with gusto.
As proud representatives of India’s most popular, home-bred contact sport, Captain Sukesh Hegde alongwith wrestler, Geeta Phogat emerged on stage in a bright yellow and red combination jersey amidst a resounding applause. Designed by DDB Mudra, West, a logo depicting the strength and power of the players in one corner of the T-shirt and sleeves and the choice of colors, replicate the vibrancy and the rustic fervor of the state of Gujarat.

Kabaddi enjoys the status of state game in atleast 6 states of India and involves two teams occupying their half of the court and taking turns to send raiders into the opposing team, touching a player and coming back into home turf all in a single breath.

The strict regimen of the players has inspired us while all that it takes to build a body that powerful has left us in awe. Coaches Manpreet Singh and Neer Gulia highlighted that the players never fail despite a backbreaking routine on a daily basis.“There is just no room for complacency. One has to set benchmark and beat it themselves,” the coaches added.
The slated thumping collisions begin July 28 onwards to be played across 12 cities nationally.
