Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani visited Dwarkadhish temple

Today in Dwarka, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani visited Dwarkadhish temple and offered his prayers.

Gujarat CM was accompanied by his wife at Dwarkadhish temple.

The Dwarkadhish temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the lord Krishna, who is worshipped here by the name Dwarkadhish, or ‘King of Dwarka’.

The temple is a very famous hindu temple of lord Krishna in Saurahstra. Pilgrims visit the temple on Janmashtami and during fullmoon day and auspicious muhurats. It is one the famous sight seeing spot in Saurashtra and Gujarat.

The main temple of the 5-storied building, supported by 72 pillars, is known as Jagat Mandir or Nija Mandir, archaeological findings suggest it to be 2,200 – 2,000 years old.

Temple was built in the 15th- 16th century. The Temple is a Pushtimarg temple, hence it follows rituals created by Shree Vallabhacharya and Shree Vitheleshnathji.

The main temple is situated on Gomti creek, is known as trilok sundar (the most beautiful in all the three worlds). Originally believed to be built by Vajranabh, the great grandson of Lord Krishna, more than 2500 years ago, it is a glorious structure seeming to rise from the waters of the Arabian Sea.

Its exquisitely carved dom, reaching 43 meter high and the huge flag made from 52 yards of cloth, can be seen from as far away as 10 km. The grandeur of the temple is enhanced by the flight of 56 steps leading to the rear side of the edifice on the side of the river Gomti.

The temple is built of soft limestone and consists of a sanctum, vestibule and a rectangular hall with porches on three sides. There are 2 Gateways in the temple: Swarga Dwar (Gateway to the heavens), where pilgrims enter, and Moksha Dwar (Gateway to liberation), where from pilgrims exit.
